The QuickBooks Home page lays out business tasks into logical groups with arrows showing how tasks relate to each other. You aren't required to do things in the order shown, but if you are new to QuickBooks and/or new to bookkeeping, then seeing the order will probably be helpful. Here is a picture of the QuickBooks Home page:
The tasks which show on the QuickBooks Home page are the ones you will use most often. For this reason, I recommend setting the QuickBooks Home page to show up when you open your QuickBooks company file (see Show the QuickBooks Home Page When Starting QuickBooks for instructions on doing so). If you don't have it set to show up automatically, simply click on the Home icon to display it.
Then simply click on the icon for the task you want to do. For example, to enter a bill, click the Enter Bills icon. The QuickBooks Home page also provides quick access to you bank accounts and to your credit card accounts. Simply double click on any of the accounts in the upper right hand corner of the page.
Most experienced QuickBooks users probably don't use the QuickBooks Home page. For beginners, however, it can be extremely helpful.
